By participating in this match, Nouhaila made official history and became the first female footballer to play a match wearing a senior women’s international tournament scarf.
FIFA had previously banned the wearing of headscarves during matches on health and safety grounds, but in 2014, ahead of the start of the Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan, the law was changed to allow headscarves.
