Lahore: E-passport is now operational at national level, the cost is disclosed by NADRA, one can get his/her e-passports from any passport office across Pakistan, soon one will have facility for e-passports at Islamabad, E-Gate or SmartGate is As reported service has been finally introduced officially after years’ delays in the country.
Media report that electronic passport are being issued by the Passport and Immigration department throughout the country. There are also reports that e-gate or smart gate will be installed shortly in other international airports such as Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. These smart gates will handle the immigration issues of passengers with passports.
The facility of making an electroni-passport will be available from any passport office in Pakistan.
E-passport made with a technological upgrade is endowed with more than 20 security features. All the details or travels of the passport holder will be included in the passport. In a few months’ time, passports manufacturing will begin not only in Pakistani but also in European and American embassies. Information about electroni-passport fee has also been disclosed. The fees of a five-year passport with 36 pages has already been notified at 9,000 rupees. urgent passport will be charged at the amount of 13,000 rupees.
