
Islamabad: Former Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Sana Mir has been selected for the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders (YGL) Class of 2025.
The 39-year-old joins 90 outstanding young leaders worldwide recognized for their professional accomplishments and commitment to society. Mir served as Pakistan’s captain for over a decade before retiring in 2020.
During her playing career, she became the first Pakistani woman to take 100 ODI wickets and achieved the world #1 ODI bowler ranking in 2018. Since retirement, Mir has worked with international organizations to promote women’s sports and youth development.
The YGL program provides leadership training over three years. Past honorees include Jacinda Ardern and Emmanuel Macron.

 Mir told media: “This honor reflects Pakistan’s potential in global leadership roles. I hope to use this platform to create more opportunities for our youth.”
The selection makes Mir one of few Pakistani sports figures to receive this recognition. The 2025 cohort will be formally inducted at the WEF’s annual meeting in January
