Islamabad Police arrested eight guards of prominent figure Farrukh Khokhar late Sunday night outside a restaurant in the upscale F-6 sector for illegal display of weapons. While Khokhar himself was questioned and later released, authorities seized the guards’ firearms and his armored vehicle.
Following the incident, media reports initially suggested Khokhar had also been arrested, but family sources denied these claims. Police officials confirmed that he was only briefly detained for questioning before being let go.
What Happened?
Speaking to WE News, Khokhar’s family sources explained that on the night of April 6, he had gone to the restaurant with friends while his guards waited outside. Since F-6 is home to many high-profile residents, someone reportedly complained to the police about the armed guards. Officers arrived at the scene, detained the guards, and took Khokhar in for brief questioning—releasing him within 10 minutes.
However, his bulletproof vehicle and the guards’ weapons remain in police custody. Family sources assured that all required documents, including arms licenses and vehicle paperwork, would be presented in court when requested.
Police’s Stance
Police maintain that the operation was conducted due to the unlawful display of firearms outside the restaurant. While Farrukh Khokhar was released after initial interrogation, his guards failed to produce valid licenses for their weapons. As a result, a case has been registered against all eight guards for illegal arms possession, and they remain in custody.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns over security protocols and the legal use of firearms by private guards in the capital.
