According to police, actor Jonathan Majors was taken into custody on Saturday and charged with assault, strangulation, and harassment.
A domestic dispute between a 33-year-old male and a 30-year-old female reportedly prompted police to respond to a call to an apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City late on Saturday morning. The assault was reported to the police by the woman.
Officers arrested the 33-year-old male without incident.”. In a statement provided to NPR, a New York City Police Department spokesperson stated, “The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.”

In a statement on Sunday, Majors’ criminal defense attorney, Priya Chaudhry, stated that Majors “is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows.”
According to Chaudhry, the incident occurred in a vehicle, and Majors’ attorneys had video evidence, statements from witnesses, and two written statements from the woman retracting her claims.
