WhatsApp Will Soon Allow You To Message Other Apps and Will Soon Offer Call Support

Meta has stated that it is going to allow third-party chats to be linked to WhatsApp, and Messenger, at least for users from the European Union. The update will give more flexibility as one would be able to integrate their WhatsApp, Messenger and third party app messages into one inbox and for the others to have them differently.

WhatsApp Will Make Message Reactions Easier and Faster Soon

To make it more engaging Meta has decided to add new notifications in Messenger and WhatsApp. These will alert users where third-party integration for chat is enabled. Meta’s goals are to meet the minimum requirements for cross-platform messaging, and provide features for enhanced interaction in form of reactions, typing status, ability to reply directly, and read receipt.

Starting next year, Meta will enable people to add contacts from third – party chat applications allowing cross – platform messaging. The support for third-party video call and voice call is expected to be released by 2027.

All of these measures are consistent with the obligations that Meta, as a “digital gatekeeper” has under the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, it means that WhatsApp and Messenger must interoperate with other messaging apps like iMessage, Telegram, and Signal. Any third-party apps which desire integration must use Signal Protocol, Meta’s encryption platform, which Meta will provide to partners to guarantee safety and privacy.
