Pakistan cricket team’s opening batsman, Fakhar Zaman, opened up about his health issues during an interview with Salman Butt on the PCB Podcast. Fakhar addressed the speculations surrounding his absence from the team, revealing that he wasn’t injured but was dealing with an illness. “Anyone can fall ill. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, which caused me to lost 10 kg weigth and weakened my muscles,” he shared.

Speaking about his recovery, the left-handed batsman admitted that regaining full fitness took time. He said, “The only reason I was out of the team was because of this, nothing else. I’m fully fit now, but the first four to five matches in domestic cricket were tough, and it felt like I had forgotten how to play.”

Fakhar Zaman  added that he gradually improved and, by delivering strong performances, reassured fans that he is now completely healthy.

When discussing the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, Fakhar expressed his excitement, recalling that his international career began during the previous edition of the tournament. He said, “I will give my all to make this Champions Trophy even more memorable for myself and the team.”

When asked about facing India, Fakhar mentioned that he approaches matches against them with the same mindset as he does against any other team.

He also shared his thoughts on Babar Azam’s batting position, emphasizing that for a player of Babar’s caliber, the batting number doesn’t matter. He added, “I believe he will perform well as an opener and make things easier for me.”

Concluding his remarks, Fakhar Zaman expressed his enthusiasm for the Champions Trophy and highlighted the significance of Pakistan hosting an ICC event.
