While artificial intelligence (AI) has made life easier for many, it has also become a source of distress for others. In Pakistan, low digital literacy means most people struggle to distinguish between real and fake videos. Exploiting this, the trend of creating deepfake videos is rapidly growing.
Recently, several celebrities have been targeted using AI-generated fake videos, and now young actress Aina Asif has also fallen victim. A viral clip circulating on social media allegedly shows her smoking a cigarette.

The video instantly sparked debate. Many users, assuming it was real, criticized the actress, while others pointed out it was likely edited or fake.

Aina Asif’s Career
Born in 2008, Aina is currently a high school student. She began her career as a child model, appearing in commercials for major brands.
In 2021, she stepped into acting with the drama “Pehli Si Muhabbat,” playing Hamna. She later portrayed Maleeha in “Hum Tum” (2022) and Abeer in “Pinjra.”
Her big break came in 2023 with ARY Digital’s hit drama “Mayi Ri,” where she played the lead role of Qurat-ul-Ain (Annie) Habib, earning widespread fame.
This incident highlights how AI misuse doesn’t just affect celebrities—ordinary people can also become victims. Internet users should verify the authenticity of viral videos before sharing or commenting to curb the spread of misinformation.
