ISLAMABAD: The final decision to make Cabinet meeting electricty bill installments  for July and August in the meeting of the federal cabinet has been made subject to the permission of the IMF.

A meeting of the federal cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, in which there was talk about excessive electricity bills across the country, protests, relief to the people.

In the meeting, several proposals related to providing relief to the public were presented by the Power Division, after discussion, the Cabinet approved the bills for July and August in installments.

Express News, Sources say that despite the approval of the cabinet, the final decision will come into effect after approval from the IMF.

Meanwhile, the issue of getting free electricity to the employees of Discos and WAPDA was also discussed in the cabinet meeting. On the directive of the Prime Minister, the issue of free units of discos and WAPDA employees has been sent to the Energy Committee for further discussion.

Earlier, the power division had proposed to pay the electricity bill in installments, it was also proposed to pay the heavy bills in the winter months, it was also proposed to give one-slab benefit to domestic consumers on electricity bills. Given, it is proposed to take the opinion of the Finance Ministry on abolition of sales tax and income tax on electricity bills.
