Government Declares Eid Milad un Nabi Public Holiday

The federal government has declared tuesday, 17th September 2024 a public holiday in the Islamic Calendar in observation of the 12 Rabi’ul-Awwal as Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW). This is a special calendar since it is the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) whom Muslims have a lot of reverence for.

From an official notification of the Cabinet Division, the holiday will make all government offices, schools and banks closed and the public will have a chance to engage in religious activities. It is widely recommended that citizens from all over the country participate in prayer/tars, religious, and cultural activities in honour of the Prophet’s (PBUH) birthday.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) is a day of honours, as the communities across the world ponder the message of the Prophet (PBUH) that he has left behind for us that we should spread the message of peace and love. It is accompanied with processions, erecting beautiful structures in mosques and offering special prayers so that the Muslims can exercise their right to practice their religion in congregation.
