ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the Reopening of Khunjerab Pass in stating that it will aid in expanding trade between China and Pakistan.
The premier praised the move for boosting trade with “iron brother China” in a press release from the PM office. He stated that the restoration of the trade route between the two sides after the hiatus was a matter of rejoice and that the historic border crossing would remove obstacles that would further accelerate the pace of work on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Sharif declared his determination to move forward with the flagship CPEC project at a faster pace than in previous years.He described Nawaz Sharif and the Chinese leadership’s infrastructure network project as a gift of progress and prosperity to the world.
After a three-year hiatus, Pakistan and China opened the crucial Khunjerab Pass border crossing on Monday, April 3.
Prior to the pandemic, the 4,693-meter-high mountain pass was closed to prevent the spread of Covivirus between the two countries. Only emergency aid was shipped after safety precautions were taken.
