The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) expelled 11 of its elected members of the newly formed local government for violating party guidelines by abstaining from voting during the Karachi mayor election.

 

The notification issued by PTI Sindh president Haleem Adil Shaikh to 11 members cited their ‘unsatisfactory replies or failure to respond to show-cause notices’ last week, Dawn newspaper reported. were released.

It should be noted that the absence of more than 30 elected members of PTI in the mayor election on June 15, the defeat of Jamaat-e-Islami and PTI’s joint candidate Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and Barrister Murtaza of Pakistan People’s Party. It led to Wahab’s victory.

The 11 members expelled from the party include Asadullah, Salahuddin, Amjad Ali, Asim Haider, Aslam Niazi, Zubair Musa, Sulaiman Khan, Azizullah, Muhammad Kabir, Abdul Ghani and Sanobar Farhan, who are elected to different positions from different areas of the city. were done

“The party (PTI) had set up a 12-member committee, including members of the legal wing, to look into the cases of these members,” the spokesperson said.

The committee was headed by retired judge Rana Zaki, who issued show-cause notices to 32 elected members for not participating in the election of Mayor Karachi.

He said that the committee was still doing its work and the responses of these 11 members mayor election (against show cause notices) were found unsatisfactory due to which they were expelled from the party.

When asked about other members of the party who were part of the city council and were also issued a show-cause notice for not participating in the election of the mayor, Haleem Adil Sheikh said that the committee looking into the matter Analyzing the cases separately.

“Majority of them have sent replies to the show cause notices, in many cases the replies require further clarification and for this purpose the committee summoned them and questioned them and their statements were also recorded,” he said. .

Halim Adil Shaikh further said that he tried to justify the decision of absentee from the mayor election by giving the reasons which are being reviewed but some of these 11 members failed to give reasons while others did not even bother to respond to the show-cause notice.
