Imran khan postpones Rally In Lahore After Govt Imposes Section 144

LAHORE: After the Punjab interim government imposed Section 144 in the provincial capital, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former premier Imran Khan called off his election rally in Lahore. On Twitter, the PTI chief stated: Since all other public activities are continuing in Lahore, it appears once more that Section 144 was imposed illegally only on the PTI election campaign.

 

The election schedule has been released, so how can political activity be restricted under Section 144? I’M ASKING EVERY PTI Employee Not To Fall For This Trap. As a result, we have moved the rally to tomorrow,” Imran Khan continued.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, senior leader of the PTI, told the media outside Zaman Park that the party had decided to hold an election rally in Lahore tomorrow (Monday). Additionally, he urged ECP to expeditiously hear PTI’s petition and direct the interim government to lift “illegal” Section 144 in Lahore.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) held a meeting on Monday to discuss the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) petition against the imposition of Section 144, which prohibits any rallies and public gatherings in Lahore. The meeting was called to order by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

The electoral watchdog announced on Twitter that the meeting will take place tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.

PTI challenges Section 144 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) challenged the caretaker Punjab government’s implementation of Section 144 in Lahore on Sunday ahead of its scheduled rally.
