In accordance with its goal of becoming net-zero by 2050, Nestlé Pakistan has committed to planting 100,000 trees this year in an effort to reduce its carbon footprint.
Throughout the remainder of the year, the company and various stakeholders will plant these trees in the vicinity of its operational areas.
During a ceremony at Jilani Park, Nestlé Cares, an employee volunteer program, donated 5,000 trees to the Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA).
“Under the umbrella of Nestlé Cares, we aim to foster behavior change by engaging our employees in volunteer activities,” Avancea stated at the event.
“In light of the effects of climate change, it is a national responsibility of every citizen to work toward a greener Pakistan,” stated Tahir Wattoo, Director General of the Parks & Horticulture Authority, acknowledging Nestlé’s efforts.
Climate Action and Life on Land, two UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are in line with this initiative.
