Employees in the public sector in Saudi Arabia are in for a treat because they will get two days off to celebrate Saudi Founding Day on February 22 and 23.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reports that all public, private, and non-profit sectors will observe an official holiday on February 22.

According to Article 128 of the same regulations, Thursday, February 23 will also be a holiday for those who are subject to the provisions of the executive regulations for human resources in the civil service.

It is interesting to note that in February 2022, the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman, issued a royal decree declaring February 22 to be an official national holiday to commemorate Founding Day annually.

This is the second year that the event has been held to commemorate Imam Mohammed Bin Saud’s founding of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1727.

It is important to note that the celebration of National Day on September 23 commemorates the unification of all Saudi  regions under King Abdulaziz.

On the other hand, a brand-new celebration known as The Founding Day aims to honor the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s historical roots.
