Punjab elections schedule released by ECP

ISLAMABAD – On Wednesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) made the schedule for the general elections in Punjab and the by-polls for six National Assembly seats that are currently vacant.

After taking into consideration the dates that were suggested by the Election Commission of Pakistan, President Dr. Arif Alvi gave his approval earlier this month to hold the elections for the provincial assembly on April 30.

After the ECP sent him a letter proposing a poll date between April 30 and May 7, 2023, the president announced the date. The names of the designated up-and-comers will be distributed on Walk 15 while the last date for RO’s examination of the selection papers will be Walk 22, it said,

The ECP has fixed Walk 27 as the last date for documenting requests against the RO’s choices, with April 3 as the last date for choosing requests by the Re-appraising Court.

On April 4, the revised list of candidates will be released, and candidates will have until April 5 to withdraw their nomination papers. After that, a new, revised list of candidates will be released. On April 6, the ECP will assign election symbols to the candidates running, with April 30 as election day.

According to the notification, the schedule will also apply to reserved seats for women and minorities, and the deadline for submitting a separate priority list for the reserved seats is March 4.
