Pakistan’s new attorney general is Mansoor Usman Awan.

 

ISLAMABAD – After accepting Barrister Shehzad Ata Elahi’s resignation, President Arif Alvi approved Mansoor Usman Awan’s appointment as the new Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) on Monday 

 

A statement from the Aiwan-e-Sadar stated that the appointment was approved by the president in accordance with Article 100 of the Constitution, and that his position will be comparable to that of a federal minister.

 

Awan graduated first from the University of Punjab with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Master of Laws (LLM) from Harvard Law School in the United States. He received the Charles Earl Bevan Petman Law Prize for first place in criminal law and the Justice

 

The Dean’s Award for Leadership from Harvard Law School went to Awan in 2005. He was elected to the Harvard Law School Council as the LLM Representative and served as vice president of the Harvard Graduate Council at Harvard Law.
